MARMALADE is an edge-of-the-seat crime-tinged romance tale. Recently incarcerated Baron (Joe Keery) strikes up a friendship with cellmate Otis (Aldis Hodge), a man with a well-versed history of prison breaks. As the pair hatch an escape plan together, Baron recalls the story of how he met Marmalade (Camila Morrone), the love of his life, and their "Bonnie and Clyde" style scheme to rob a bank in order to care for his sick mother and give the couple the life they've always dreamed of.

Patrick Exciting, fun twists, funny, looks beautiful and filled with great performances. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review J. A filmmaker with an original vision and a boldness to subvert expectations and take big swings. ODonnell gets some truly amazing performances from his leads and empowers them to break away from what the audience expects them to do based on their past roles. The cinematography, score and art direction are exceptional and make the modest budget blossom to a heroic potential. The writing is nuanced and over all its definitely worth repeat viewings. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Alisha D A creative premise that, unfortunately, wasn't executed to its full potential, despite the inventive twist. The ending felt rushed and unrealistic. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Junior M O pior filme que vi esse ano disparado, que roteiro pobre e cheio de conveniências, de um amadorismo brutal. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Birithivy Y Marmalade - 8/10. Interesting! Was told to watch this and avoid knowing anything about this movie prior to watching it. I think that helps when watching it, because I was pleasantly surprised! Marmalade starts off kinda like any other heist film would, but as the story progresses we are thrown in a loop with a twist. And then another twist happens, and another. What’s surprising here is that the film seems familiar, while also feeling original too. Its an indie film and its shot around a small town and county, which helps gives the film a distinct feeling due to the movie’s small scale heist. Its a super colourful movie too, with vibrant colours that help make each scene pop. The performances are fun too, and you can tell the performers all had fun playing these slightly over the top characters. In a way, this kinda reminded me of being a mix between Strange Darling and The Usual Suspects. Not saying the film is the same as those films, but the vibe is similar! Overall though, this comedy heist film is full of surprises and is a nice and easy watch. Go in without knowing anything, and come out being surprised!
